We traveled down to Welch Minnesota this past weekend to the Mustangs At The Island (MATI) event hosted by Treasure Island Casino and run/planned/managed by the Lake Country Mustang Club. As always a great show with a large turnout (nearly 300 mustangs spanning all years).
This 3 day event has everything from scenic cruises, a poker run, group meals, bowling, gambling, a comedy show and a guest speaker (Ralph Arning from Ford Engineering was this year)… and of course the car show itself.
No hardware obtained, but met up with a lot of friends we hadn’t seen in quite awhile from all over the mid-west. Between BS-ing about cars, showing off the new GT500, and just plain catching-up, the time flew by and before we knew it we were headed home again.
For those considering this event, it is an oddly voted show. You are parked based on the order you arrive with no consideration to year / trim of mustang you bring. Which means parking with friends is EASY and encouraged. But… be aware… when voted on, the votes are based on the row you are parked in (again, year / trim make no difference)… so if parked with friends, they are likely the ones you are competing against along with anyone else in your row. 3 awards for each row. We nestled in with several of the classics Mustangs in our row… and they of course dominated our rows voting. It is also a “must be present to win” set of awards and if someone is missing the awards drop down a level. PARTICIPANT voted, along with several choice awards by event sponsors. It is a good time and a well run, organized and secure event. Would highly recommend.

No other pictures this time, left camera at home, so you have to stare at the Code Orange…
